Need a little a help getting over the January blues and events of 2016, but don't want to break the bank after an expensive Christmas? We decided to go on the hunt for some FREE events and loclactions to visit this month, so whether you wish to loose yourself in an eclectic market, get a taste of fresh air, or soak up a little culture, we've got you covered! 

Bedlam: the asylum and beyond

Explore how the history of the mental asylum and how it has shaped the complex landscape of mental health today at The Welcome Collection. "Reimagine the institution, informed by the experiences of the patients, doctors, artists and reformers who inhabited the asylum or created alternatives to it". The Welcome Collection has a number of free and ticketed exhibition alongside this one, which won't cost you a penny! But be quick, this exhibition only runs until the 15th Jan!

The Old Dalston Market

 

This Sunday (Jan 15 2017) Hackney Flea Market will be at Epic Dalston, 11am-6pm. Visit to find a tone of unique handmade, vintage, salvaged and reclaimed decor/clothes from some of London's finest traders. Free entry and hosted indoors so a nice day out whatever the weather!

Bowie By Duffy

A beautiful collection of Bowie portraits by Brian Duffy are on show at Proud Chelsea this month. Spanning 1972-80 the collection includes candid shots, some of Bowies more glam looks and his Aladdin Sane era with the contact sheet for the Aladdin Sane cover. "A celebration of the dynamic relationship between two of the centuries greatest artistic innovators".  Entry to the exhibition is free and is running until 5th February.

Clissold Park

If you're looking for a little green, open space, visit Clissold Park. 

With amongst the park's 54 acres you will find a mini-zoo nestled in its centre, with rabbits, chickens, goats and deer. A butterfly tunnel and aviary, Clissold House's café and much more!

Girls Skate Night

House of Vans is hosting a female evening of fun and skate boarding on Thursday 26th of Jan.
