Tabby Casto, the lovely make up artist who worked on our Collection No.5 Lookbook shoot, has written us a step by step guide so that you can re-create her looks yourself. DO try this at home kids!

Look 1 - Undone and Radiant Soft Plum Eyes and Berry Lips

"For this collection, Hannah gave me a bit of a moodpboard as a way to visualise the makeup she wanted. From this, I gathered that she wanted berry lips, glossy skin and earthy muted tones incorporating some pink on the eyes.

After seeing our model Siobhan and the new collection pieces, I decided to keep the eyes a little softer. Siobhan could have ended up with a a very “pin up” look with her dark hair and blunt fringe - she reminded me of a real Betty! Instead of going for the obvious black flicked liquid liner and bright red lip, we wanted the makeup to elude to a more ethereal feel which I think has been achieved quite nicely.

To get this effect, I started by prepping Siobhan’s skin. I first cleansed it with micellar water and then spritzed it with Jane Iredale’s face spray Pommist. I love using this face mist as it’s an organic product that has pomegranate extract in it which is a natural antioxidant and uv protector. It also smells AMAZING.

I followed this with a light weight illuminating moisturiser , also by Jane Iredale, called Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion. This combo of skincare gives a really gorgeous sheen to the skin. Siobhan had gorgeous olive skin and didn’t need much foundation (also a medium or full coverage foundation would have created a more polished look which wasn’t what we were going for). I just used a lightweight concealor under the eyes and a lightweight foundation on the skin. Nars Tinted Moisturizer does the job nicely.

I highlighted her cheekbones with Benefit’s High Beam Highlighter. This product has been a keen kit favorite of mine ever since I started doing makeup! They make a product called Moon Beam for more olive skin tones, but I prefer the way High Beam looks in photoshoots and real life. It really pops! I find it best applied after foundation with dabs on your finger.

For a bit of colour on the cheeks, I used a warm bronze terracotta blusher blended out softly with a fluffy powder brush and a little bronzer as face powder just on the areas where the sun would normally hit the skin.

For eyes I used an eyeshadow primer by Urban Decay followed by Sweet Pea & Fay eyeshadows in Kapow on the top lid and St. Alice on the bottom. A matte plum eyeshadow was applied to the crease of the eyes and blended out followed by a little brown eyeliner top and bottom smudged for a softer effect. Then I used lots of black mascara to define the eyes even more.

Brows were filled in with Barry M’s Brow Kapow in Medium Dark. I’m a huge fan of these as although they're a pencil, they are creamy enough to blend in with an angled brush to manipulate the brow shape you want. I then used a little brown powder eyeshadow on top to intensify the look.

For lips I used a little lip balm with a burgundy red lipstick. I love the Lush Cosmetics Lip Balms as they smell amazing. We didn’t want the makeup for this look to be too heavy or “perfected” so rather than apply a lip pencil first and use a brush to get the lipstick defined, I simply used a small fluffy brush to apply the lipstick and used my finger to blur out the edge of the lip line so it wasn't precise but almost more of a bitten lip balm effect.

Gosh do a great product called Lip Marker *which looks exactly like it sounds*! The shade Berry would be a great dupe for recreating this look."

Look 2 - Glossy Skin & Deep Lips

"To get the second look in the collection I simply removed the eye makeup and replaced it with a dab of Benefit High Beam in the centre of the eyelid, followed by a little eye gloss on top. I added gloss to the cheekbones too and amped up the highlighter on the cupids bow, inner eyes and brow bone. I also went for a more defined and deeper lip colour using a brown berry shade. You can recreate this lip using a brown lip pencil as a base under reddish brown lipstick.

Nails were kept on trend and nude using MoYou London’s Cafe Au Lait nail polish. For the hair we went for quite a clean look. I just sprayed Siobhans hair with a heat protector (Tresemee do a great one which you can find in Superdrug called Keratin Smooth). Naturally Siobhan’s hair was very curly so we straightened it out with GHD’s and slicked it down with a little hair spray and wax."
