Make your own super lightweight tinsel tassel earrings, perfect for parties, festivals, or whenever you want to turn heads!

These are compatible with all Wolf & Moon hoops.

Materials you will need:

• Fake flowers - make sure they have a hole running through the middle or you will need to make a hole (ones with more “frilly” petals work best)
• Tinsel fringe (I used 5cm each side)
• Colourful ribbon or fabric
• Lightweight card (about 200gsm)
• 0.7-0.9mm thick craft wire (I used about 25cm of 0.8mm brass wire)
• Pair of hoops (I used our 22mm gold-filled hoops)

Tools you will need:

• Something round for drawing a circle (I used a mug)
• Pencil/pen
• Hot glue gun
• Fabric/fray stop glue *optional*
• Tape (any kind will do)
• Ruler
• Scissors
• Jump loop pliers (for making a hole of at least 3mm) or round nose pliers
• Wire cutters (you can also use scissors but it will blunt them with lots of use)

Step 1 - Make the cones which sit on top of the flowers

1. Cut a circle out of card. I found a mug was the perfect size to draw around. The larger your circle, the larger the cone.
2. Cut the circle into quarters and chop the tip off so your cone will have 2 open ends.
3. Roll into a cone shape. A pencil/pen/paintbrush is helpful to roll around.
4. Once you have the desired shape, tape the edge down.
5. Cover/wrap your cone in ribbon or fabric, making sure to glue all the edges down. For a neater look, tuck excess fabric inside the end of the cone. Trim off any frayed edges. You can also prevent frayed edges by dabbing a tiny bit of fabric/fray stop glue along raw edges.
6. Add hot glue around the inside rim of the cone (larger end) and press onto the base of your flower. Hold firmly until glue is dry.

Step 2 - Make the tassels

1. Cut a small length of tinsel fringing. I used 5cm, but you can make them fuller with a longer length.
2. Measure a section of wire which is long enough to go from the top of your tassel through your flower to the top of the cone. Add an extra 2-3 cm on each end and cut with wire cutters / scissors.
3. Using your jump loop / round nose pliers, make a loop on the tassel end. This will stop your tassel sliding off.
4. Hot glue the loop end of the wire onto one side of your fringing seam. Roll your fringe around it, glueing as you go. This part can be messy so make sure you do this on a surface you don’t mind getting glue on!
5. You should end up with a tassel with a wire sticking out at the top.

Step 3 - Assemble!

1. Feed the wire through your flower to the top of the cone.
2. Bend the wire to a 90 degree angle against the top of the cone.
3. Trim the wire to about 1.5cm.
4. Using your jump loop / round nose pliers, create a loop for your hoops to go through by carefully rolling the wire back on itself to the middle. If you have too much wire, trim. To fit our standard hoops, you need to make sure your loop has a diameter of at least 3.5mm.

Some further ideas for you to experiment with:

• Double up the flowers/cones to make an extra large pair of earrings
• Layer up different lengths of fringing
• Try other kinds of fringing but make sure it is still lightweight
• Mix two colours of fringe together
• Try different ribbons/fabric for the cones
• Different lengths of cone
• Make your own flowers out of fabric/paper/other materials
